Full Story : THE MAFIA MEN LEFT CAMILA ALONE WITH THEIR DEADLIEST ROTTWEILER… BUT WHEN BRUNO REACHED HER, HE DID SOMETHING NO ONE EXPECTED

PART 1 — THE DOG IN THE PENTHOUSE

Camila Reyes had cleaned the penthouse hundreds of times.

She knew which crystal glasses belonged in which cabinet. She knew how Mr. Valenti liked the dining table arranged before his private meetings. She knew which elevator was reserved for guests and which hallway employees were never supposed to enter.

But she had never seen the dining room like this.

Broken porcelain covered the glossy black marble.

Food was scattered beneath chairs. Red tomato sauce streaked across the floor. A silver serving dome lay on its side beneath the enormous chandelier while rain hammered the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Manhattan.

And standing in the middle of the destruction was Bruno.

The Rottweiler was enormous.

His muscular shoulders nearly reached Camila's waist. His black coat glistened beneath the chandelier, and a thick leather collar surrounded his neck, decorated with polished silver spikes.

Four men in black suits stood near the windows.

None moved.

None spoke.

Camila was on the floor.

Bruno stood inches from her.

His lips lifted.

Teeth appeared.

A growl rolled from deep inside his chest.

“Please...” Camila whispered.

Her hand trembled against the marble.

“I didn't do anything.”

The men remained silent.

Camila pushed herself upright.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Bruno watched every movement.

Then something strange happened.

His growling stopped.

Not completely, but enough for Camila to notice.

He lowered his head.

And started walking toward her.

One massive paw stepped over a broken plate.

Then another.

Camila backed away.

“No...”

Bruno came closer.

His shoulder filled her vision.

The silver spikes on his collar flashed beneath the chandelier.

Then his nose touched her hand.

And Bruno froze.

PART 2 — THE COMMAND HE REFUSED

A voice finally broke the silence.

“Bruno.”

The dog lifted his head.

The speaker was Dominic Valenti, the quiet man standing near the center window.

Camila had worked in Valenti's penthouse for eleven months, but employees rarely spoke directly to him.

Everyone knew enough not to ask what he actually did.

The restaurants.

The construction companies.

The security businesses.

The men who arrived after midnight.

Nobody asked questions.

Valenti looked at Bruno.

“Go.”

Camila's blood turned cold.

The command was simple.

Bruno understood it.

But the dog didn't move.

“Bruno.”

Again.

Nothing.

Instead, the massive Rottweiler moved closer to Camila and positioned himself beside her leg.

The suited men exchanged glances.

One of them, Marco Bellini, stepped forward.

“Something's wrong with him.”

Valenti said nothing.

Marco pointed toward Camila.

“She destroyed the dinner setup. She was caught near your office. Now your dog won't touch her?”

“I wasn't near his office,” Camila said.

Marco turned sharply.

“Nobody asked you.”

Camila flinched.

Bruno immediately growled.

Not at Camila.

At Marco.

The entire room changed.

Marco stopped.

Valenti's eyes narrowed.

“Interesting.”

Camila looked down at Bruno.

And suddenly remembered something.

Three months earlier, she had discovered the Rottweiler in a service hallway late at night.

He had been bleeding from one paw.

Everyone had warned employees never to approach him.

Camila had approached anyway.

She had cleaned the wound with water, wrapped it with part of an old kitchen towel and sat beside him for nearly forty minutes.

Bruno hadn't forgotten.

But that alone didn't explain what was happening now.

Because Bruno wasn't simply protecting her.

He was staring at Marco.

And growling harder.

PART 3 — WHAT BRUNO SMELLED

“Take him downstairs,” Marco said.

Nobody moved.

Marco looked toward two of the guards.

“I said take him downstairs.”

Valenti raised one hand.

The men stopped.

“No,” Valenti said quietly.

Marco forced a laugh.

“What?”

Valenti looked at Bruno.

“He's trying to tell us something.”

Marco's face changed.

Only slightly.

But Camila saw it.

Valenti walked toward the destroyed dining table.

“This dinner was prepared for six people.”

Nobody answered.

“Twenty minutes before my guests arrived, someone entered this room.”

He looked at Camila.

“Marco says it was you.”

“It wasn't.”

“He says he saw you leaving.”

“He's lying.”

Marco stepped toward her.

“You little—”

Bruno exploded with a deafening bark.

Marco stopped instantly.

Valenti's expression hardened.

“Stay where you are.”

Bruno moved away from Camila.

Everyone watched.

The dog lowered his nose toward the marble floor.

He sniffed beside the spilled food.

Then near a broken plate.

Then beneath the table.

Slowly, he followed a scent.

Camila's heart pounded.

Bruno walked directly toward Marco.

Marco's face lost color.

“No.”

The Rottweiler continued.

“Get that animal away from me.”

Bruno stopped in front of him.

His nose moved toward Marco's right hand.

Then toward the pocket of his suit jacket.

Valenti stared.

“What is in your pocket?”

“Nothing.”

“Empty it.”

Marco didn't move.

Valenti's voice dropped.

“Empty. Your. Pocket.”

Marco reached inside.

His hand came out holding keys.

A phone.

A folded receipt.

Nothing else.

Valenti looked at Bruno.

The dog was still growling.

Then Camila noticed something.

“His sleeve.”

Everyone turned.

A faint smear of red sauce stained the inside of Marco's cuff.

The same sauce covering the destroyed dinner table.

Marco looked at it.

For the first time, he looked frightened.

PART 4 — THE REAL TARGET

Valenti stepped closer.

“You said Camila destroyed this room.”

“She did.”

“Then why is my dinner on your sleeve?”

“She bumped into me earlier.”

Camila shook her head.

“I haven't touched him tonight.”

Marco's jaw tightened.

Valenti looked toward one of his men.

“Check the cameras.”

Marco moved.

Just one step.

Bruno growled.

He stopped.

Minutes later, a guard returned carrying a tablet.

“There is a problem.”

Valenti took it.

“What problem?”

“The hallway camera outside this room went offline for seven minutes.”

“When?”

“Right before the dinner was destroyed.”

Valenti looked at Marco.

Marco laughed nervously.

“That proves nothing.”

The guard continued.

“But the service elevator camera stayed online.”

He tapped the screen.

Video appeared.

Marco entered the service elevator at 8:41 p.m.

Carrying a small black bag.

At 8:47, he returned without it.

Marco's face went blank.

Camila suddenly understood.

The broken plates weren't the crime.

They were camouflage.

Someone had destroyed the room intentionally so it would look like an accident or an employee's mistake.

“But why blame me?” Camila whispered.

Valenti looked at her.

Before he could answer, another man spoke.

“Because you were supposed to be fired tonight.”

Camila turned.

“What?”

Valenti handed the tablet back.

“Marco told me you had been stealing from the penthouse.”

Camila stared at him.

“He said jewelry was missing. Cash. Documents.”

“I've never stolen anything.”

“I know that now.”

Marco stepped backward.

Bruno shifted with him.

Valenti's voice became cold.

“What was in the bag?”

Marco said nothing.

“What was in the bag?”

Still nothing.

Then Bruno suddenly turned toward the overturned silver cloche near the dining table.

He sniffed.

Pushed it with his nose.

Something metallic clicked beneath it.

One of the guards lifted the cloche.

Underneath sat a tiny glass vial.

Valenti stared at it.

Nobody spoke.

Camila felt her stomach drop.

Marco wasn't trying to frame her for breaking plates.

He had needed someone to blame for being inside the room.

Because someone had tampered with the dinner.

And Valenti had been the intended guest.

PART 5 — BRUNO CHOSE HIS SIDE

Marco ran.

He made it three steps.

Bruno moved faster.

The Rottweiler launched forward and blocked the doorway, barking violently.

Marco stopped so abruptly he nearly fell.

The guards surrounded him.

No gunshots.

No dramatic struggle.

There didn't need to be one.

Marco knew it was over.

Valenti picked up the vial using a cloth napkin.

“What is this?”

Marco stared at the floor.

“You can't prove anything.”

Valenti looked almost disappointed.

“I don't have to prove anything tonight.”

He turned toward one of the guards.

“Call the police.”

Marco's head snapped upward.

Camila was surprised too.

Whatever Valenti's reputation was, he clearly understood that whatever was inside that vial could become evidence.

The police arrived thirty minutes later.

So did paramedics and investigators.

The vial was taken for testing.

Security footage was copied.

Marco was arrested after investigators found additional evidence inside his apartment and vehicle.

Weeks later, Camila learned the truth.

Marco had been secretly working with one of Valenti's business rivals.

His assignment was simple.

Contaminate Valenti's food.

Destroy the dining room afterward.

Blame the household employee.

Camila had been selected because she was quiet, had no powerful relatives and desperately needed her job.

Marco assumed nobody would question his version of events.

He had almost been right.

Almost.

A month later, Camila returned to the penthouse for the first time since that night.

The dining room had been restored.

New plates.

New furniture.

The black marble polished until the city lights reflected across it.

Bruno lay beside the windows.

When Camila entered, his massive head lifted.

She hesitated.

Then smiled.

Bruno stood and walked toward her.

No growling this time.

He stopped beside her and quietly rested his enormous head against her hand.

Valenti watched from across the room.

“He remembered you.”

Camila stroked Bruno behind one ear.

“I helped him once.”

Valenti nodded.

“And he returned the favor.”

Camila looked toward the place where she had once been kneeling in terror.

“Why didn't you stop him when he came toward me that night?”

Valenti was silent for several seconds.

“Because Bruno has been trained for many things.”

Camila waited.

“But attacking innocent people isn't one of them.”

She looked down at the dog.

That was when she finally understood.

The terrifying animal everyone feared had never been the greatest danger in that room.

May you like

The danger had been standing quietly among the men in expensive suits.

And Bruno had known it long before any of them did.
